Dear Colleagues,

This is ICBBD local committee chair – Dr. Jianming Shi (Tokyo University of Science) and local secretariat - Dr. Fion Yang (Waseda University). We are pleased to announce that the 2019 International Conference on Business, Big Data, and Decision Sciences (ICBBD 2019) will take place at Fujimi Building, Kagurazaka Campus, Tokyo University of Science on August 22-24, 2019. Last year at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand, the conference received over 350 submissions and slightly over 200 delegates from 31 countries participated. Accordingly, worldwide participants in 2019 are expected to reach 350 persons from over 30 countries. All submissions to the conference will go through an anonymous review processes by at least two independent peers. In the digital age, how to effectively use big data to provide businesses with highly competitive strategies to make best decisions is definitely a vital challenge for all researchers and industry managers.

Therefore, during the three-day conference, all participants will have plenty of opportunities for exchanging ideas, findings and the latest research results, engaging in many academic and industry events, and meeting peers from different countries. We believe that participants can share their viewpoints from different perspectives and be exposed to a cross-domain communicating and learning atmosphere through this interdisciplinary joint conference. GKA EDU 2019 - 8th International Congress on Education and Learning

The congress will feature prominent speakers and communications, workshops and seminars given by professors, researchers and specialists from the public and private sectors in three different languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.

In 2019, the main topic of the congress will be "GAMIFICATION IN EDUCATION: KEY ELEMENT FOR MOTIVATION"

The primary feature of gamification is the application of game design elements in non-game contexts. In this way, an instruction that might be tedious and not very motivating, under traditional didactic methods, becomes appealing and inspiring. Games are instructional by nature, so this is a way of learning by doing. On the one hand, games develop essential competencies, such as observation, decision-making, speed, empathy, and intuition; on the other hand, they provide a controlled learning environment in terms of not only content but also moral values, frustration tolerance, internalization of rules, and strategies for success. In this edition of the Congress, we are aiming to focus the educational community's interest in this groundbreaking field of gamification-based teaching methodologies. There is a great opportunity here to share and try out strategies for improving students' motivation and to incorporate these strategies into our daily teaching activities.

We invite all those who wish to participate to submit a proposal, be it a lecture, workshop, poster or virtual presentation, addressing education through the highlighted theme or through one of the other topics of the community.

Selected conference papers will be published in the associated indexed journal.

The FINAL DEADLINE for submitting a proposal to the Congress (i.e., a title and an abstract) is MAY 3, 2019.
